As you head through the streets of New Delhi, sink in the first sights of India. You’ve just arrived in a land of 1.2 billion people, home to every major religion in the world and a dizzying variety of histories, and one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Nearly 1,000 languages are spoken by different people groups in India.
Dharamshala, where you’ll soon be heading, is home to a large population of Tibetans who fled violence and political oppression in their home country. You’ll soon have the opportunity to contrast the Tibetan culture with that of the Himachali villagers in the second half of your trip. Welcome to colorful India!
After breakfast, hop into private vans to start your trip up to the Himalayas. This is a day of group bonding and landscape appreciation as you’ll spend the day making the drive up to your new home, McLeod Ganj! Get comfy for 12 hours of travel today, and watch out your window as the landscape changes from mega-city to farming fields to the green foothills of the Himalayas.
Once you arrive, transfer to your hotel.
This morning meet your project coordinators; start working for the cause of cleaning the trek and surroundings. Give something back to nature, by joining on our weekly clean up hikes to Triund, Bhagsu Waterfall & Guna Temple.
Over 10,000 people including numerous schools visit the mountain camp each year and before the creation of a waste management system this beautiful place was extremely littered.
We recruit volunteers to clean the hiking trail and help with the segregation of waste from the chai shops and guesthouses. The mules that take the supplies up the mountain now bring down the segregated garbage.

Enjoy some cool fresh mountain air in the village of McLeod Ganj – home to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Spend the day today getting oriented to your new home – explore the town on a scavenger hunt.
Today proceed for a cleanup trek up to Bhagsunag waterfall. The Small picturesque Bhagsunag waterfall is located only 0.5 Kms from the famous Bhagsunag temple and is frequented by large number of tourists annually.But with so many tourists large amount of waste is accumulated. Hence the local NGO have taken an initiative for cleanup treks.
The NGO is being trying hard to maintain the natural beauty of the waterfall. Every Thursday Morning, the volunteers get together and clean the water fall area.by afternoon, all the garbage bags are collected and packed and taken to the Bhagsu dumpsite. Over there, the waste collected is being segregated. The Recyclables is being sent to the plant and the non-recyclable waste is being sent to main Dharamshala Dumpsite.
Return to your hotel.
This day help the NGO with casual office work.
Wall murals are a beautiful way of reaching out to people and get the thinking. If your have artistic skills or enjoy painting, we can possibly create a project for you. There are numerous walls to be painted in the town and The Ngo would love some help with that.
If you have few hours to spare, drop into the NGO office and get participated with small tasks and activities in the office.
Return to your hotel.
Today say good bye to your NGO colleagues and you will be driven to Delhi by private car. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a farewell dinner in Delhi.
After breakfast, transfer intime to airport to baord flight for onward journey.
Volunteers need to be over 18 years old at the time they take part in the program and be able to Speak in English fluently. You also need to have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment.
